I have been busy working on so many different warhammer armies at one time, because I love modelling, converting, and creating armies that are not so usual... for example my Nurgle Orks using Feral Ork rules.

Regardless, I still don't have a completed and painted army that is ready for play. Just various units from 3 different armies (Nurgle Feral Ork Cult, Nurgle Traitor IG, and Nurgle Renegade Marines), that are all connected in Fluff and god (the big papa). The are all minions of the same Chaos Warlord, Infinitus, whose fluff I've posted in some army blogs I have on this forum.

What I was wondering was, firstly, what is the points value I should be aiming for to have a complete army ready for a pickup game at my local game store... with really anyone whose there or wants to play... Basically what is the standard army points value for a common friendly pickup game?

Secondly, I was also wondering if, while technically not legal in things like tournaments... if most opponents would be OK with me fielding an army that incorporates some units from other army lists... where I'd have about 90% units selected from 1 list... but there would be a small 10% portion of allies from my other 2 armies, which are all (fluff-wise) really the same army (just different factions).

I beleive my conversions and final paint jobs are really good and fluffy, and would hopefully impress people (the paintjob in my avatar is not complete at all), and might help in persuading them to be OK with me fielding a mixed army like that.

Keep in mind, I'm not talking about Apocalypse with allies (where you can take from any list).. I'm specifically talking about your usual size friendly game. Since I don't really know many people at the store yet, and who my opponents would be, I really can't ask them these questions, so I'd like to know what you guys think, and if you guys would play against an army like that in a friendly game.

ALSO keep in mind, that the army, in NO WAY would be picked from different lists TO HAVE AN EXTRA ADVANTAGE. The only extra advantage is that I get to work on my various models without sticking to the same boring units over and over (I'm a lover of variety).

All HQ would be from the same list too. Allies would only be Troop choices, maybe some fast attack or elite...

1500 point is good. Personally I dont like mixing armys but maybe your opponent dont mind.

To answer the question on what pts range to target.. i guess most matches on tournaments and lgc goes from 1000pts, 1500pts and 2000pts.

The question about allies in the army, well if the oponent aproves i guess that it's ok but as you say.. it would never be aproved on a tournament.

Well if it was a friendly game and you didnt try to exploit it.. sure.

1:try to aim for approximately 1500 pts.
2:make sure you ask first before you integrate 10% of another army.
3:I personally would not mind it if you had parts of another army, but others may not feel the same, just make sure you know the person you are playing first cuz it would be somewhat awkward being asked that outta the blue i would imagine.

well, around here the norm is 1500pts battles.

As for using 'allies'....i think your best solution is to speak to a staffer at the GW store (or one of the guys running the game club your attending) explaining everything the way you just did here. He/she should be able to introduce you to a fellow gamer with similar views that wuoldn't mind/would enjoy playing against a fluff based rather than rule book based army.

As for me...as long as it didnt look 'cheesy' i would be happy to destroy....er..i mean play you
