this is very good. In particular I like the pipe work.

However, I think he has too much stuff on his shoulders. when painted I think it will look silly and will obscure the detail of the model when looking at it from above. I'd remove the rats and the searchlight, and as someone else said, consider putting the rats on the base? or somethingggg. It just looks weird having matching rats on his shoulders, are they statues?

Consider modelling rats coming out of his insides? Sounds difficult at first but the simple rat shape is a tear drop with a tail and some features. Probably a nightmare to paint though :(

Actually, each rat on his shoulders is different. I thought it'd make sense for them to hitch a ride ona nice flat surface they can fit on. Once I find a base for the (the one that came with him was SERIOUSLY warped/melted) I'll see what I can come up with

I agree about the rats. Too much on his shoulders. If at all possible, model one crawling up/ sitting on top of the banner, one crawling up the leg, and some on the base sort of scurrying around their 'mobile home'
I once toyed with the idea of rats/giant rats as accompanying my CSM force, but since it will seem like I'm following you up I guess I'll nix it. I'm still stealing the flail for my DP though XD ...actually I'd been wanting to use a flail on a Soul Grinder anyway you just spurred me into action :)

Alright guys, I started priming it, need to turn it over, but here's some pics I took beforehand. I took a lot of your suggestions and went with a few new ideas, and I must say that I'm really happy with how this porject's coming along. The multi-melta failed miserably in it's itnroductory game, but then again is was Dawn of War setup; either way, it has a plasma cannon now. I also bashed up the backside, mounted it on a base, added plenty of rats, and added the encrustment.

Very awesome. The excess of rats really brings it together.

Looking forward to more! :P

Hmm..

I think it has a little too much "going on" for my taste. It has so many bits and pieces that I didn't know where to look.
But I think/hope that it'll change when it's painted.

Good luck with the painting!

I think so too, Pake; you also have to remmeebr that this is a CHAOS dreadnought, it needs to be CHAOtic :P Also, once the primer dries, I need to bring it back in and re-model the bolter as a heavy flamer D:

Looking great!
I don't know how you did it but this dreads looks bulkier for me than before - wich is pretty cool. The swarming rats on the base are lovely aswell. And great work on the scratches.

I don't say paint it immediatly, else I will be hit by Phill :P
Great work keep it up

Well i have to agree with Pake, i know its chaos and meant to be chaotic but it wont work as a model if the piece is too busy, it wont look chaotic but confused and messy.

Also there are loads of mould lines still and gaps in joints (like on the right leg) which will detract from the final finish if you don't deal with them before you paint.

Having said all that, you have a cool looking dreadnought there sir :) I am really looking forward to seeing it painted.

Well, I can fill gaps with more of the encrustment and I'll handle those mold lines. Once painted I can pretty well hide a lot of flaws, and a lot of the 'busy-ness" will tie together once it's got some color :P
