Here's the ten minute tutorial on sculpting chain. Make a GS worm, about 1.5mm in diameter. The thickness of the roll depends entirely on how big you want the chain to be. Flatten it to I find you tittilating and mildly arousing size you want your chain. I found out that 1.5mm wide and 1mm thick is good for normal 28mm models. Cut it in blocks with a sharp tool. I sometimes use modelling knife. I cut them about 1.5 times longer than the width of the sausage. In this case about 2.5mm. IF you want to add realism, you can poke a hole in the middle of the blocks. But I like the "tightly linked" chain so I don't poke holes. Let GS cure. In this tutorial I didn't but the next step is a lot easier if you do. Roll another sausage, about the half of the size of the first one. Under 1mm in this case. Stick it on top of the now cured GS blocks. At this stage make sure it sits in the middle of the blocks and make it as straight as possible. Cut it in sections right in the middle of the blocks. Let cure for a while and fix the cuts so they look pretty. That's it! Naturally, if you want the chain to hang on something from both ends, you have to make the first sausage the shape you want it to be. Or you could try to do it separately and then bend and glue it on to place... Happy sculpting!

As soon as I saw this I knew I'd like this tutorial. Just yesterday I was cursing the fact that my mum had thrown out my FW modelling chain :/ Extremely useful tutorial! I wish I could rep you :/ ... Maybe I will when I can =D

seconded. I assume you let it harden, make a 'channel' for the chain links on the top side, flip it over (into the channel) and repeat the process?

Something like that. It's up to you, really. I made one where is sculpted the first sausage on top of a piece of wire. So I was basically working on both side at the same time. Very time consuming but it worked ok. And looked like this: Have a go and if you figure out how to do it the easy way please feel free to add it to this topic!
