So, I admit that I am a gigantic Megaman fanboy. I've loved the games since I was a kid and played my first on on the NES. I still follow the series now and buy any new games that come out. Megaman 9, which came out a bit over a year ago, finally continued the classic series and made my year. If you have any of the current gen systems, I highly recommend downloading this game from their respective online shops.

Anybody else around here like Megaman?

I do!! I remember how simple the names were but were oh so menacing. Snake Man, Cut Man . Easy premise but sometimes a pain in the @ss difficulty.

TOO HARD!!

:squigfail:

I want to love these games, but they're too frustrating for me to enjoy.
(Castlevania all the way, baby!)

Yay! Did you also fall off your chair when the end credits revealed that Sypha Belnades was a WOMAN!! :P

I love the old school Mega Man games ... great graphics, great gameplay, great music. Loved Mega Man 9 for sticking to the proper formula, even though these days I lack the patience to actually sit down and get good at a Mega Man game. :bum:
Don't care much about the EmoMega Man X series (the sprites are too big which hampers the gameplay, and I dont give a darn about a adolescent cartoony videogame cyborg's emotional problems anyway). Also, the 3D Mega Man adventures may be even worse than the already dire 3DVania games ... though Castlevania Judgement is still the biggest insult of a major franchise I've seen in years. What WAS Konami thinking when they created a game that makes Mario Does Sonic At The Specialympics look perfectly fine? :squigfail:

I happen to be in the possession of 2 NES systems. Having played Megaman 2, I can safely say that I have never been so incredibly frustrated trying to beat a game. I am the type of person who takes a difficult video game as a personal challenge, and I often refuse to let go of a game till I make it my bitch through sheer stubbornness/determination. Megaman 2 is one of the only times I have ever just given up something out of sheer exasperation. The difficulty level of these games makes new, Next-Gen games seem practically as if on easy mode. Pattern memorization is damn difficult.

That's somewhat amusing, as Megaman 2 is often hailed as the best of the classic NES Megaman titles. I am inclined to agree. Have you given it another try recently? I replay the game all the time these days.

EmoMega Man X series

Hey now! He doesn't really get emo until X7. It's really sad that they took him that way. I could get further into it, but I think I'll just hold the fanboy in me back. :P X is one of my favorite characters and the X Series is hands down my favorite series. I don't feel like the sprites are too large, particularly if we're talking about the SNES titles.

I love the cover designs of the very first Rockman ... wee difference in interpretation of the character's looks?

(the US box art reminds me of the original BloodBowl box)

I was thinking the same thing ... it looks like it drawn by a 14 year old but it does have a certain charm to it that the other two pics lack.

The bottom pic is my favourite though ... I could easily see that done as a film poster for a nice, cheesy live action MegaMan B-movie.

Hey, that old terrible box art is classic these days! I'm sure you've seen the Megaman 9 "box" art they did just for kicks. I actually managed to get one of the press kits. I still have not opened it. :P

Pic related.

That said, I am actually more into the Rockman side of things. I used to be terrible about it. Like, I would 'correct' people who used the English character names. These days I'm way more laid back. I prefer the Japanese but I'm cool with either way.

Um, have you tried Ritalin in your morning coffee?
Then again, whenever I hear people pronouncing Akumajõ Dorakura as "Castlevania" I get my scissors out and castrate them in order to 'correct' them ... the filthy verbal iconoclasts.
