Haven't played 40K since 4th edition, but I'm getting my army together to start playing again.

I'm concidering taking at least one unit of Plague Bearers (Lesser Daemons) in my DG army. I would be taking 7 in each unit as I like to try to stay close to the fluff. But I haven't seen much discussion of them.

Are they worth the points cost in 5th edition?

How do you use them in your armies?

I played 40K with the two past incarnations, and found Plague Bearers to be really useful in a lot of situations, but I'm not sure that would be the case anymore.

What do you guys think?

I have two units of PBs in my 2000 list... but I've never played a game, so I'm also interested to hear what people have to say about this.

I think they are worht it! :)

I used them as either a assualt unit or a objectiv-taking unit.

When I used them as assualt I most times take 10 of them so they have a real punch when they attack. But dont count them to survive a combat (only if it against guards or tau :P) But they can weakend regular troops or holding the enemys elite troops, like terminators, in some rounds.

When used as a unit to hold objectives with I only go for 5 in each group. Just drop them on the objective an let the Plague Marines do the killing! >:)

Lesser Daemons rock,
just plonk them onto objectives or use them to help out in assault.

I am currently toying with the idea of taking a unit of seven and having an icon in my bike squad....should be fun :)

I like lesser daemons as cheap objective holders or as assault boosters. I often take two units of them. It's even funner to take more.

Since Plague Marines are so excellent at taking an assault and living, I like to use them as bait, and them start bringing in the lesser daemons on that location.

Not as good as the original PB, but daemons are very useful in a sudden assault scenario. For or against you even.

Then again, I beleive you should be able to upgrade demons to cult status, but with only ONE upgrade
eg. either +1 T OR plague of nurgle. Be honest; the stupid idea of Angry Red Git demons having everything and a bucket of chips was the reason they clawed back the demons in the first place.......
