Shouldn't they work just like a dev squad (other than costing way to much)? I have played around with the normal marine codex a few times and the dev squad with missiles always seemed like it would be one of the best options for dropping tanks early game. You dont need to wait tell you get close to hit them with meltabombs or multi meltas, you dont need to worry about those tanks that would normally make life hell for your guys because you have some long range fire power and can be dropping tanks from turn one. Then if your enemy dosnt have any tanks or MCs to drop you can always shoot at command squads, hords (with the frag shot), or anything that starts to get to close.
That is just the way I always looked at it, I like to have some kind of long range tank threat in my army (maby its from the tau) because that way I can drop threats from turn one

While I havnt played with the list yet (no one local wants to let me run it as mostly stand in and I only just figured out vassal 40k was offline) I have been thinking about it a bit and decided I wanted to use termeis. Both because I already have some (and this is just as much a shopping list as a tourney list) and because I have seen some good things on the net about them. So here is my revision of my list.
Daemon Prince -175 -Wings -Mark of Nurgle -Warptime
Chaos lord -165 -Mark of Nurgle -Terminator Armor -Daemon Weapon
Chaos Terminators(x7) -300 -Mark of suck on some of Squiggoth's vintage underwear -Chainfist(x2) -Heavy Flamer -Combi-Flamer -Combi-Melta(x2)
Plague Marines(x7) -291 -Aspiring Champion -Powerfist -Meltagun(x2) -Rhino -Extra armor
Plague Marines(x7) -231 -Plasma gun(x2) -Rhino -Extra armor -Personal icon
Plague Marines(x7) -231 -Plasma gun(x2) -Rhino -Extra armor -Personal icon
Summoned Lesser Daemons(5) -65
Summoned Lesser Daemons(5) -65
Obliterator -75
Obliterator(x2) -150
TOTAL=1748
I have been eying the typhus rules though and he looks really cool (psyker weapon and psychic power each turn). I think I might drop the prince and lord for him then with the left over points add more oblits. What do you think, is Typhus a waste of points?

Use the Typhus-model as the lord. Much better...

I already have an idea for the lord, its based off the typhus picture in the book. But of course I will use typhus as a base :D

If the Lord is going to be with the Termie unit, you could drop one of the Terminators (this would give you 7 instead of 8 including the Lord). With the extra points throw another personal icon in with the melta marines, and two extra lesser daemons.
