It was a simple 1000 VS 1000 game set up on a frozen waist land board my friend brought over. The board size was 4x4.

Setup: Tau
HQ: A Ninja O' commander.
Troops: Fire Warrior team Red.
Troops: Fire Warrior team Blue.
Elite: Crisis suit team with plasma (love to insert badgers into my face remember full name), burst cannons, and missile pod on all three.
Heavy support: Hammerhead with Ion Cannon, and Burst cannons.
Heavy support: Hammerhead with Ion Cannon, and burst cannons.
Heavy support: Broadside with twinlinked rail rifles.

On all troops models on his deployment there were two shield drones per squad.

Setup: Crimson Guard :)
HQ: Licious (daemon prince) with Wings, Mark of Nurgle, and Gift of Chaos
Troops: Crimson Guard Squad (7man) with two plasma rifles and a champion with power weapon.
Troops: Plagued Squad (7man) with two plasma rifles and champ with power weapon. And Rhino upgrade.
Troops: Death Guard Squad (7man) with champion and power weapon.
Heavy Support: Plague predator with twin linked las and heavy bolters.
(daemons)
Greater daemon
Lesser Daemon (5man)

(we wernt to sure on the points but then again.. We don't really care)

First turn: I got a 1 and tau got a 3 for first turn. On his movement phase he moved two hammer heads with ion cannons and dual burst cannons forward 12", he also moved his crisis team of three and his commander 6" forward in front of a ruined building structure. His tau fire warrior teams kept back. Shooting Phase, he fired his Broadside at my Rhino destorying it on first turn with a explosion of 4". Then he proceeded to begin to fire his crisis team and one hammerhead at my Crimson Guard Squad near Licious. They fired every weapon and only droped two. After that he fired at my Plagued Squad with his other hammerhead and killed only one. Then started the Assult Phase. He used the jumppacks and moved his crisis teams and tanks with his HQ back 6" behind cover. Nurgle movement Phase. I moved all Squads foward 6" and made a mistake by moving my Pred 12" thinking I could still fire.. I moved Licious 12" and from there I went into my shooting Phase and there is where I found my mistake on the Pred, is when I read it is only skimmers that can fire there main weapon reguardless of moving 12" I wasn't able to fire anything due to Tau's range on me which left my stuck for this round.

Second Turn:
Tau did there movement all more towards my troops minus the Fire Warrior teams, and in there shooting Phase they lit me up and all I rolled was ones.. I got whipped out before my second turn sadlly..

Kind of a sad battle report.. But Nurgle shall prevale! (after I battle more often..)

Rotten luck! Sounds like the two games that I've played. I did a little better but had a lot of one's rolled for my saves too. But back when I played my two games, my troops still could infiltrate. I wish I could give some advice that would help, but you've probably played a lot more games than I have. May the dice gods be with you next time! :tentacle:

How much of a threat did the broadsides pose during the game? Railguns are no joke it seems with S10 AP1. Although those Ion cannons AP3 seems to be no fun either...
