-please note- this gaming day finished at 1am so strawberry bitch just noting it down rough tonight, will edit and write it down eloquently tommorrow, bit like a story :)

Terrain: 4x4' board, one side has a 3 story building, arricades and hill, the other a 3 story building with large craters and cover.

Set up: Capture and control with 3 objectives, table quarters.

forces:
Headhunters chapter:
librarian [smite, quickening]
tac squad
tac squad
dev squad
scout squad
scout squad
predator
razorback
dreadnought
termies
assault marines with chaplain

Death Guard
Typhus
6 Death Guard Terminators
Death Guard squad [plasmas]
Death Guard Squad [meltas]
Chaos Space Marines with nurgle icon
Predator
Defiler

DEPLOY FORCES
The objectives were placed as follows: 1 in his building, 1 in mine and one in the centre of the board inside a large crater. I deployed a DG squad inside the building with the objective, the CSMs on the far right flank behind a barricade and both vehicles on the left flank with the final DG squad behind them. Typhus and the terminators remained in the terminus est awaiting deepstrike. My opponent deployed all his armour behind his building, with only the devastatror squad and a scout squad visible on the 1st and second floors respectively. Everything else was hidden behind his building save for his terminators and assault squad that were planning to deepstrike.

BATTLE BEGINS

The Death Guard advanced first, the defiler advancing slowly up the centre of the battlefield. One Death Guard squad attempted to flank the enemy whilst the other remained hidden on the ground floor of the chaos building, holding their objective. The large chaos space marine squad ran forward to quickly take a firing position behind a blasted barricade. With a hail of missiles, reaper fire and a shell from the battle cannon the defiler reduced the devastator squad on the roof of the enemy occupied bulding to just one man, who promptly failed his leadership test and fled. The chaos predator rumbled forward looking to find a firing solution in the future.

The Loyalist marines retaliated viciously, a rocket from scouts on a balcony of the enemy building and the razorback destroying the defiler with a blast of its twin linked lascannon. The loyalist predator, dreadnought and speeder all fired on the chaos predator, but only managed to stun the crew.

Typhus and his retinue of terminators teleported down from the Terminus Est using their foul sorceries. They appeared to the direct rear of the enemy lines, blasting the second floor of the building with a heavy flamer, combi flamer and the winds of change, frying and liquidising the 5 man tactical squad that had set up a lascannon there.
The chaos space marines fired their heavy bolter at the balcony, tearing apart two scouts, who loyally held their post.
The flanking death guard continued manuevring.

A terminator squad deepstruck from the orbiting battle barge whilst an assault squad and Chaplain deepstruck from the heavens. The razorback drove to the central objective disgorging a tac squad and a librarian. The scouts on the balcony took aim at the Chaos Space marines, but failed to land any fatal shots. The loyalist terminators, and assault marines unloaded on the flanking Death guard but only managed to strike down 5 of the total seven, the lone survivors protected by their dieased flesh. The loalists again stunned the chaos predator, and the dreadnought. The dreadnought shot a hail of rounds from his autocannon at Typhus and his retinue, but failed to score any wounds. Frustrated, he charged in, turning one unfortunate terminator into a crushed pulp with his power claw. Retaliating, the terminators sliced off the power claw and disabled the ancient warrior. Considering it no longer a threat, Typhus eyed the surviving occupants of the marine building objective greedily.

Turn 3 began with the chaos marines closed on the central objective, now occupied by the librarian tac squad. The two surviving Death Guard flankers rapid fired their plasma guns at the loyalist terminators, felling two of them much to their amusement. Typhus and his retinue unloaded their weapons at the ground floor of the bulding, taking out the fleeing devastator and tac squad. Their enemies annihilated, they then assaulted a scout unit on the ground floor, wiping them out to the last man, who was promptly run down.

The razorback tank shocked the Chaos marines in the centre, who neatly stepped aside. The predator and landspeeder manuevred away from Typhus, instead firing on the flanking deathguard, who again shrugged off the hits. Enraged, the assault squad and terminators charged the Death Guard, wiping them out. The snipers on the balcony took out a few chaos marines, who chuckled a bit and held their ground.

Typhus and his terminators fired on the snipers on the balcony, causing casualties before wiping them out in an assault. The marine deployment zone objective was now completely free of loyalist scum (aside from an incapacitated and no doubt very annoyed dreadnought). The chaos marines in the centre manuevred towards the librarian, keeping out of LOS by using the wrecked defiler as cover.

The terminators moved towards the central objective slowly. The assault marines and chaplain assaulted the death guard holding the objective in the ground floor of their deployment zone. Both squads are fearless so despite the casualties, the combat continued on.

Realising that they were not close enough to contest the central objective, the chaos marines blasted the librarian tac squad with a flamer, incinerating two marines, and charging into combat. By the end of the turn, the only survivors were the nurgle iconbearer, the aspiring champion, space marine sergeant and the librarian, reduced to one wound. ( All piled into a large crater) The combat betwixt the death guard and chaplain led assault marines continued, both squads taking casualties.

The loyalist terminators finally made it to the central objective, and joined the pitched battle betwixt the librarian squad and the chaos marines. By the end, the chaos marines were wiped out, but not before they claimed the life of the tactical marine sargeant, denying the loyalists the objective. The assault and death guard continued battling for what was clearly the only objective that could be won, as the death guard were the only surviving troops choice left in the game. Both units held fast as usual.

And so we come to the finale of the battle. Typhus and his men rounded the loyalist building they had cleansed, firing on the librarian but failing to take him out. The Death guard, with three men left finally struck down the last assault marine and chaplain. With a 1 rolled at the end of the turn, the game ended. One objective held by chaos, none by space marines.

It was a great game, although its worth noting my predator spent the whole game stunned before being taken out by the terminators. I need to invest in some demonic posession. I'm also going to replace the defiler with a multi melta dreadnought to save points and have better luck with enemy armour :)

Hope you enjoyed.

sounds like a great game :)

one word of caution every player i know that took a multi melta on a dread regrets it, they are too slow to get into deadly range of a tank. better to take a twin las cannon. or use melta sqds etc.

thanks i enjoyed reading your report :)
