Well, we had the game.
I don't know if games can be boring, but this was very close to being boring.
Can't really tell what made it so, but things just didn't happen.
Crappy rolling on both sides, lousy shooting, lousy HTH, no nail-biting moments... The game just happened, you know?
Hmm. Now that I look at the pictures, the table had a crappy set-up. My fault.

Here are the pictures, I'll try to write something if I remember. Hopefully you can follow the events from the pictures...

Empty table.
Image

His deployment.
Image

My deployment.
Image

He stole the initiative, so he went 1st. No further action.
Image

Then I moved. Garro went fire frenzy and shot two of my PM's dead.
Image

Lord and termies disembarked, termies shot the marines in the crater, Lord charged the unit in front, taking out 4 of them.
Image
Image

Swept the last one out and consolidated to the marines in the crater.
Image

Forgetting the Land Raider, he then faced 5 Twin Lightning Claw termies.
Image

On the other side of the table, Dread Garro was facing a jump pack squad.
Image

They charged with Melta Bombs, but failed to hit. Garro then took out 2 of them.
Image

Lord took out 4 termies, before getting killed due to some bad dice.
Image

Squad on the left flank drove 12", disembarked and rapid fired. They managed to kill one marine!
Image

I lost one termie to lascannon fire, and the rest charged the Land Raider to take it out with Power Fists and a Chain Fist. Not a single hit landed...
Image

2nd squad on the middle disembarked and rapid fired killing one!
Image

Dread Garro had killed all but the Chaplain. Melta bombs against walkers are useless...
Image

Squad on the left took some rapid dakka and then charged.
Image

The middle squad then charged.
Image

Garro got a little help from the footsloggong squad on the right flank.
Image

I immobilised his LR so it became a duel.
Image

On the left flank the HTH went on...
Image

In the midfield the lonely termie got involved.
Image

"Look out below!" A Drop Pod came to harass Garro.
Image

Left flank HTH went on..
Image

The termie didn't survive a Power Fist so the HTH went on...
Image

Garro and the remaining PM's charged the Drop Pod Marines.
Image

The Marines had four guys with Melta Bombs, but they were no match against the Dread..
Image

ANother Drop Pod with a Dread landed on the field.
Image

The left flank HTH went on and on...
Image

Just a nice shot of the duell...
Image

This is how the game ended. Left flank: Objective 1 of three is contested and I hold the one in the middle on the side of the Rhino.
Image

I had the 3rd objective but the Drop Pod contested it so I won with the middle field objective. The game ended in turn 5.
Image

As I said there was crappy dice rolling throughout the game on both sides.
The left flank HTH is a good example of that.

The game was tight but somewhat boring...
If you want to know something that happened, just ask.

More reports in the future...

Great use of pics! I'm sorry it was a boring game though. Do you know what would have spiced it up a little?

I don't know myself. Maybe more of a narrative driven scenario? Or more terrain, placed asymmetrically on the table?

Or naked women playing with tubs of yoghurt?

Playing against standardised shooty marine is almost always a bit dull. Find an opponent with an interesting/rare army like Dark Smelldar, or tastes like chicken Mercs, or did someone say (space) dwarf shortage?...

Way better than WD battle reports, if only because the models in these pics are ones we haven't seen a gazzillion times before!

(well we DID see your Deathguard a gazzillion times by now, but still .. ;))

Great pics. Never battled an army with drop pods myself. Seems like that would have spiced it up a bit.
