HELLO! so, i have been playing around with the idea of a highly mobile assaulty death type DG army list. Something ubber nasty, not so fluffy but really hard. you know? I love to insert badgers into my face remember if the term is 'cheesy' or 'beardy'. a list that will do well at a tournament too. so: HQ: DP 175pts wings MoN Warptime Elite: 7 Chosen 236pts Champ with Lightning Claws IoN 2 flamers 2 meltas Land raider (possessed) *heavy sup* 240 pts 7 Chosen 226pts Champ IoN 3 flamers 2 meltas melta bomb (i know its silly with 2 meltas, but i had 6pts left!) Land Raider (possessed) *heavy sup* 240pts Troops: 7 PM 191pts 2 plasma guns 7 PM 191pts 2 plasma guns 1499pts The idea being the LR's packed with chosen rush forward tank shocking etc. the DP right behind them using the raiders as mobile cover. the chosen jump out and flame/melta the tank shocked (or not) enemy then assault it with the DP joining in to finish them off. The PM's act as covering fire support and as my objective holders. If i take out his troops he love to insert badgers into my face win, if mine live i WILL win, and i think the choosen and DP are hard enough to take out troops, tanks, HQ etc etc. Do you think this list will work? IS there a better way to do it? I have looked at the codex, Mabs tactica etc a lot and really tried to think about this list but I am always open to thoughts, ideas, views etc. I would love for this to become a place to discuss nurgle Tournament lists too, so fire away

So, you want a tournament level list that's pure Nurgle...
The list above will get eaten alive.
One prince will get shot to death, and/or munched by a well used combination of assault units.
You have only two scoring units, and the'yre footslogging! Hence you lose in the multiple objective taking mission, and if you're lucky, draw with the capture the flag one.
The Icon of nurgle is a massive waste of points. If you want T5, take plaguemarines.
As for the Chosen, you've wasted the Infiltrate ability, and have given them more-or-less all shooty weapons. If they're in a Land Raider ready to jump out and charge into close combat why aren't they aremed with power weapons? And whilst you're in combat, how are those four or five meltas/flamers helping you?
The two Land Raiders is a great idea, and having two princes is a good idea as well, however having both in a 1500 list is difficult.
List 1 Daemon Prince; warptime, wings, MoN (175)
Daemon Prince; warptime, wings, MoN (175)
7 Plaguemarines; Champion with powerfist, two meltaguns (221)
Land Raider; daemonic possession (240)
7 Plaguemarines; Champion with powerfist, two meltaguns (221)
Land Raider; daemonic possession (240)
7 Plaguemarines; two plasmaguns (191)
Rhino (35)
Total 1498
List 2
Daemon Prince; warptime, wings, MoN (175)
Daemon Prince; warptime, wings, MoN (175)
7 Plaguemarines; Champion with powerfist, two meltaguns (221)
Land Raider; (220)
7 Plaguemarines; Champion with powerfist, two meltaguns (221)
Rhino (35)
7 Plaguemarines; two plasmaguns (191)
Rhino (35)
7 Plaguemarines; two plasmaguns (191)
Rhino (35)
Total 1499
List 3 Chaos Sorcerer; MoN, Warptime (145)
Chaos Sorcerer; MoN, Nurgle's Rot (135)
7 Plaguemarines; Champion with powerfist, two meltaguns (221)
Land Raider; Extra armour (235)
7 Plaguemarines; two plasmaguns (191)
Rhino (35)
7 Plaguemarines; two plasmaguns (191)
Rhino (35)
Vindicator; Daemonic Possession, combi-bolter (150)
Vindicator; Daemonic Possession, combi-bolter (150)
Total 1488
List 1 is mental. You need to be quick and decisive to make sure the preliminary assault breaks the opponent, otherwise you get slapped about a bit and will easily be outnumbered 3:1.
List 2 is slightly less mental and has an added scoring unit.
List 3 is a bit odd with two sorcerer riding in the LR. Less intimidating than the Daemon Princes but just as capable, plus the Rot helps kill off swarms.

IMO a mono chaos army is a little weak. Don't get me wrong they are really fun to play but they will probably not win a tourney. The problem is their shot range. A good tourney list needs range or something to pull them in range (Lash Prince sorry but it is true :p). Another thing to note is that with the number of meltaguns out there now Plague Marines main strength is negated FNP. I feel that the mono god army went out with the 3rd edition codex.

If you want to win easy dont play chaos in any form If you want go with nurgle take what are best things of the chaos codex: demon prince w. wings ( + mon, warp time) pm squads in rhinos with melta Oblits Depending on how your group/the tournament plays cybots you can also take them. * I would go with 4 * 7pm with champ,fist,2meltas 1 Prince (only wings) 3 Oblits (deployed as 3 units) this puts at 1379 the rest depends on the opponents you are awaiting You could loose 1-2 powerfists and get a second prince. Or take a G.Daemon and put some more gear on your troops. Also good is to increase your scorring units is get icons for your troops and get 2 squads of lesser daemons. @ Mabrothrax Why land raiders? With everyone going melta you are paying 250 points for a good chance to get blown up and either dont shoot your lascan's or don't get the dudes inside where they are supposed to be. I would take them in a heartbeat if i had machine spirit and access to the crusader pattern.

The list above will get eaten alive.ahh, bugger
One prince will get shot to death, and/or munched by a well used combination of assault units.right
You have only two scoring units, and the'yre footslogging! Hence you lose in the multiple objective taking mission, and if you're lucky, draw with the capture the flag one.right, but i thought if i wiped out all his troops with my hard hitting units....but i see your point
The Icon of nurgle is a massive waste of points. If you want T5, take plaguemarines.right, but choosen get more cool stuff
As for the Chosen, you've wasted the Infiltrate ability, and have given them more-or-less all shooty weapons. If they're in a Land Raider ready to jump out and charge into close combat why aren't they aremed with power weapons? And whilst you're in combat, how are those four or five meltas/flamers helping you?well, i thought the flamer and melta weapons would seriously dwindle the number of foes i would be facing in the shooting phase, and the DP or second chosen sqd would join in to beat up the rest
The two Land Raiders is a great idea, and having two princes is a good idea as well, however having both in a 1500 list is difficult.yeah, i know!

7 Plaguemarines; two plasmaguns (191)
Rhino (35)
Total 1498ok, but with so few men and so little shooting, would it be better to have flamers rather than meltas? or at least one sqd with flamers rather than two with meltas? the LR have lascannons to pick on tanks etc. i was worried about getting 'swamped' which is why i went with the chosen with special weapons galore
List 2
Daemon Prince; warptime, wings, MoN (175)

Total 1499Actually, i kinda like this
List 3 Chaos Sorcerer; MoN, Warptime (145)
Chaos Sorcerer; MoN, Nurgle's Rot (135)
7 Plaguemarines; Champion with powerfist, two meltaguns (221)

Vindicator; Daemonic Possession, combi-bolter (150)
Vindicator; Daemonic Possession, combi-bolter (150)combi bolters? i have one on my vindi and it never gets used, are they really worth it?
Total 1488i like the 2 sorcerer idea, can to independant characters join one unit? that would be a fairly big punching unit

The biggest problem are the chosen they are expensive and have 0 staying power. A chosen from your squads costs 33 points, 3 points more than a Terminator and dies as easy as a 13 point marine, also not fearless.
Melta > flamer because the stuff you kill with flamers will also lose against your pm squads, but the melta targets(MC's,Cybots etc.) will eat you.

I would suggest walking circles, or even better three intersecting circles, helps the thinking a lot.

They move, you disembark and assault. Win. AV14 all round seriously takes time to beat, and as for meltas, the best way to avoid them is to assault them. The lascannons are a red herring. Take a look at my tactica/rant for more on my views of Land Raiders etc.

Here is one of the five unit choice for our Choosen, described in that former official GW article. Shooty gits: That's exactly how it was described in that article 9 Auserkorene CSM; • Ikone des Nurgle • 1 Synchr. Bolter • 1 schwerer Bolter • 2 Plasmawerfer • 4 Melterbomben 1 Aufstrebender Champion • Synchronisierter Bolter • Energieklaue • Melterbomben For CC ones the articles said to use the Mark of Khörne
