Hey everyone, I'm a new warhammer player. I started building my CSM army last november, and 3 other good friends of mine started the game at the same time. It was a great way to start the game, we learned how to play, model and paint through each others mistakes and triumphs ( with a little help from the internet). The store where we are isnt very supportive so we tend to stay away except for tournaments.

I find the general isolation has given us a very fresh view of the game. When we go to our local store theres always lots of talk about how it used to be and a general indifference to the game. Not to mention since last tournament it has become clear that we nowknow the 5th ed rules better than the other local players. Most likely because we don't have habits from older edidtions. On to how I came to be under Papa Nurgle's warm blanket of rot.

Way back when we where still in the early stages of learning the rules and our lists just looked plain silly I had a game that saw me falling in love with plague marines. Just as an example heres the list from memory:

HQ:

Prince , MoT, Wings, WoC and Warp

Chaos Sorcerer, Wings, MoT, Doombolt, Warp

Troops:

10 CSM icon of Misspelt Big Blue Chicken ,Lascanon , PG

10 Angry Red Git Zerkers Skull champ with PF
- Mounted in Land Raider

7 Plague Marines with 2 PG

Fast Attack:

5 Raptors with champ and PF and 2 MG
- Chaos Sorceror was attached to this squad

Thats it as far as I can remember, there may have been 10 PM and a pred. Well that one match may have influenced my entire army because the Prince and Plague Marines absolutly dominated. Nothing was painted at this point and it didn't take too many more games before I was converting everything to be Nurgley.

My appoach to Death Guard and Nurgle seems to be a little different from things I see at my slocal store and the internet. I don't have puss or boils or I guess anything that I see seems to be traditionaly "Nurgle". I've made everything to look as though its thousands of years old, unkept, like theres only zombies underneith the armor. Its kinda like I have a Zombie Chaos Space Marine army. My tanks are undecorated they just look old, used and coroded.

Nothing in my army is officially done but most things are close to being done. Maybe I'll start a thread when I get home on the 11th of my progress so far. I'm slowly coming up with a back story to them, I'll post what I've come up with in the progress thread I guess.

Sorry to hear that about your store. We have 2 in my area, one an official GW store, and the other a dealer and comic store with a bunch of tables. The GW store has painting tables and anyone can come in and just sit there and paint/ get tips. The comic store has a lot more room though, and they are within 5 miles of each other so they compete quite a bit.
