Whoa....its like we were birthed by the same Daemon or something. I kid you not my third marker has a similar look to it...but more of a ninja turtle peeking out of the manhole cover. Nice work . and looky at what I found

Sorry for the crappy picture (I'm still trying to find a good way to light these for macro photography). Still have a loooooong way to go on these painting-wise. My hobby budget is pretty tight at the moment, and I don't have many colours to choose from, so I may just put a call in to my friendly local game store to see if I can dip my brush into some of their pots to finish these off before Halloween.
I'm a cartoonist by day, so I often have more art supplies than I realize. The bad news is that the pastels I used to have (and never used) and was thinking of using for weathering powders seem to have been given away or lost. The good news is I apparently have a tone of oil paints & thinners. We'll see if I can put those to use on some tanks or something later on down the line.

I did it! I got all 3 painted!!
I had to go buy 4 new pots of paint (bone white, camo green, graveyard earth, fortress grey) & a pot of devlan mud, but I got 'em all done! I've lost the day-light for pictures & I'm on my way out to a Halloween party but I'll post a detailed report with pics in the (hung-over) morning.

I tried new techniques (sponges), and that was fun. These guys are the first things I've actually painted for my army so I had to kinda finalize my official paint scheme in the process too (for the Ghoulie in the hatch). Feels like I've made some real progress, even if I haven't really crossed anything off my checklist yet.
The Lazy Librarian
The Gun Coffin I still don't have enough bits to stock the gun coffin full of guns, so I'll probably revisit this one at a later date.
The Ghoulie Hatch
All 3 could use some dead static grass or flock or something, so whenever I get my hands on some of that... I'll probably touch these up a bit, but they're as finished as I can get them for now.

that rust looks trashed!! EXCELLENT work. whats your technique / color pattern? impressive Esty, very impressive.
Thanks, Ninja The rust is pretty simple: 1. Dark Flesh base coat 2. Gently sponge on Boltgun Metal here and there 3. Gently sponge on Macharius Solar Orange mixed with just a tiny bit of Scorched Brown (use less paint in step 3 than step 2) 4. Dab most of the paint out of the sponge onto your pallet, then really lightly dab Scorched Brown over all the bright orange and metal spots to tone it down & dirty it up a bit. That's it!
On the Librarian I did ad some Devlan Mud to a few spots to (after step 3), but not on the 'Hatch (at least not on the rusted metal)
