hello again!
so i did plan on drawing out some maps etc but i love to insert badgers into my face upload the word files to the site, and i dont have anything else (not even a digi cam) to do it with. sigh.
so i played two games against the same guy, both 1500pts, he was using Space Marines (green ones) and me, Death Guard.
the first game was capture the flag and it started well for me. until turn three when his chapter master in a seriously tooled up CC sqd ripped apart my chaos lord and termies and two sqds of pms without breaking sweat. Very high 'I' 'WS' and 'A' with power weapons = death. he also had a tact sqd with a captain in a drop pod (that doesnt scatter on landing) that i couldnt kill in CC with my marines. in the end (after total carnage on both sides) it was a draw.
Lessons learnt: power weapons on a chapter master are AWESOME, striking last against power weapons meant death, PM can soak up hits in CC from ordinary CC weapons with EASE! but not so good at dishing it back when they dont have a ASP CHAMP. So, squads with only plasma guns and bolters need to fall back and fire!
OK, now for the main event (by this time i remembered to take notes of what happened!) He wanted to play all out war, kill everything, get a point per unit you kill setting up along the long table edges etc.
I had learnt from the first game that I simply had nothing that can kill his Chapter Master SQD in CC and that his drop pod was deadly accurate and would be landing behind my lines so i decided to set up (i won the roll to set up and go first) in a refussed flank on the right of the board so i could bring all my guns onto one target at a time.

he had a Razorback with twin lascannon, inside it was a Chapter Master and deadly CC sqd (CM) (power weapons all, storm shield etc etc.....only bolt pistols though)
drop pod with 9 tactical marines and a Captain (tact 1)
10 tactical marines (tact2)
one vindicator (vin)
3 land speeders (LS)
5 DS'ing Terminators (pf's!!)
The battle field (without a map sorry): on my side i had (starting from my right) a set of ruins then tank traps then another set of ruins he has a large ruin in his deployment area. (there was other scenery but we only fought in this third of the table!)
Deployment:
I placed my rhino with PM1 in between the ruins on my right and the tank traps with the Vindi right behind it.
PM 2 and 3 in the ruins to my right
PM 4 in the tank traps
the dreadnought on the far side of the ruins to my left.
He placed his Tact 2 in his ruins
both the RB and Vin to my right with the LS behind them
First turn i go first:
DG: PM's 2+3 move and run through ruins, PM3 onto top level ready to fire next turn PM2 doesnt get very far!
PM 4 move forward in the tank traps ready to fire
Rhino with PM1 rushes full speed forward and pops smoke
TED moves to fire at his vindi, misses
Dread moves and fires at the RB misses. no more shooting as out of range
SM: Drop pod with tact 1 and capt drop behind the tank traps
Tact 2 in ruins move into firing possitions
Vindishots, misses
RB shoots misses
LS move, shoot, no damagedone
T2
DG: rhino moves full 12" again, PM1 jump out and melta vindi to DEATH! (plan worked!! woohoo)
PM2 moves to counter newly arrived drop pod marines as does TED
PM 2,3,4 and TED shoot at Tact1 and Capt. 6 dead, they run away (only just staying on the board!)
SM: his Termies DS, scatter back to just infront of his ruins
his CM and SQD jump out of RB, assualt pm1 butchering them with ease, conolidates back into RB
Tact1+Capt rally move assault TED with greneades, no damage (possessed baby!)
Tact 2 and LS all shoot, not much damage, all saves made
T3
DG:Vindi moves up, fires at RB, destroys it with direct hit, CM+SQD all fine but walking!
Chaos lord and termies show up DS to icon in PM2 to help deal with his Tact1+Capt ( i didnt want them anywhere near his CC specialists again!)
PM 2+3 plus Termies all shoot Tact1+Capt, only the Sargeant left, he doesnt run!
PM 4 and Dread fire at CM+SQD 1 dies
SM:Lone sarge atacks TED with grenade, no harm done
Termies and CM move towards my lines fire lots of bolts, saves made
Tac2 fires from ruins, no kills
LS shoot kill one PM in PM3
T4
DG: PM4 in the tank traps move back to force the CM and Termies to roll to enter the difficult terrain
rhino moves between PM4 and CM
PM2 moves to shoot at CM+SQD as do my lord and termies
PM4 and dread shoot and kill 3 termies
PM2+3 rapid fire at CM+SQD TED shoots at them too leaving 3 left standing (the CM with a wound)
The Termies shoot and kill the lone Sargeant
SM:LS destroy rhino
Termies and CM+SQD move up but fail to roll high enough to get into the difficult terrain! (only because I moved my boys back!! Sweet) So shoot at me, no damage done (armour saves and FNP baby!)
Tact2 in the ruins fire, saves all made
T5
DG: All move to better shoot save PM3
PM2+3+termies open up on CM+Sqd, rapid fire and combi weapons used...all KILLED!
PM4 and Dread and TED shoot and kill last two termies
SM: wih only LS's and Tact2 left he shoots at me one PM dies i think from PM4
T6
DG: Almost everything fires at the LS's (they have the nastiest weapons, multi melta and assault cannons)
I destroy one, and remove multimelta and assault cannons, they are unable to move next turn
Vindi, dread shoot and kill 4 Tact2 marines
SM his Tact 2 fires, saves made
T7
DG:I finish off both the LS's and Tact 2 squad leaving him with nothing
Results:
he scores 2 points for PM1 and the rhino, I killed Tact1+2, LS squadron, CM+sqd, Termies, RB, Vindi scoring 7.
I WIN!yay me

hope this was an ok report and you could follow it well enough. shame i couldnt get the maps to load

anyway lessons learnt:
If your no gonna have an ASP CHAMP in your PM sqd fall back and shoot. this way you have 4 plasma gun shots wounding on a 2!
Massed fire works well!
PM's can take small arms fire with EASE! sweet
Also my Chaos lord was useless in CC, which is what i had him for.....if you come up against guys with invulnerable saves and PW.....run away! (shooting obviously!)
