This tourney is a 1750 soft score having no duplicate unit tournament. (Other than troops.) 1 Unit to a squadron.
I have a list, but I need advice for 3 particular builds I will be facing.
My list:
Daemon Prince - MoN, wings, warp time Sorcerer - MoN, personal icon, bike, rot Greater Daemon of Nurgle
7 Plague Marines - personal icon, champ w/ pf, 2 x melta, rhino 7 Plague Marines - personal icon, champ, 2 x melta, rhino 5 Plague Marines, 2 x plasma, rhino
5 Bikers - MoN, champ, 2 x melta
3 Obliterators Defiler 4 x DCCW
Builds I am concerned about: IG - lots of heavy weapons, valk w/3 melta dudes, 'detta w/ 3 melta dudes, some artillery IG - tankstankstanks - a number of troops, but a LOT of tanks CSM - defiler w/ havoc and some other not dccw weapon ( a defiler can only shoot 1 gun if it moves, correct?) land raider with 5 man termy squad kitted for cc, couple squads of plague marines, chaos lord of some variety CSM - VERY good general - laspred, vindy, daemon prince w/warp time, and the rest in 10 man csm squads w/ IoCG and 2x melta, plas, flamer...
Please give me some ideas to work with!
My thoughts: vs IG - rush 2 melta rhinos with defiler running close behind. Move max and hug cover. Next turn rush as close to his lines as possible (or through them if I can) and pop smoke. Move 6 with the defiler, shoot the cannon, and pop smoke. Turbo boost bikers close to the enemy lines and stay out of LOS of the heavy weapons. Next turn, try to kill a transport and charge the contents. If that is unfeasible, charge into combat. Sneak the prince as close as is safely possible. Deepstrike the oblits. I have 3 icons to bring them down on, so I should be able to get them within 12" of a tank and stay out of los of most of the heavy weapons. Move the prince close enough to get stuck in on the same turn the greater daemon pops out. With luck, between the prince, daemon, and bikers with rot, I should be able to decimate his troops. What to do about the valk/'detta?

Hmmm, well you certainly need people with more battle experiance than me to help KUMQUAT RAGE! out but i have had one thought about the valk/detta.
Ignore them.
I can't remember now where i saw it but i read a bat rep with some guy facing Robot Boy Toy with 2 'liths. He completely ignored them and went for the Robot Boy Toy troops exclusively. I think he caused a phase out in turn 3.
Can't you do the same here? if your guys get close as you plan and they do rip through troops etc (as it looks like they should) then if you stay focussed on that it won't matter at all if the val/detta are untouched by the end of the game...right? especially if most of your expensive units are in CC and can't be shot at...
also, i would drop the PF from the PM squad and give it to the biker champ, it will be used more and do much more harm (as the biker is tougher and will live longer to use it than the PM) and if the PM's are charged you should have plenty of heavy hitting CC units handy to go help them out...
hope that helps
phill

I won the tournament with that build. I tabled 2 of the opponents and managed a draw against a tau gunline with and outstanding general. I took a 1 point competitive hit because my entire army was T5 or T6, but that is just lame - it is a fluffy nurgle list - I could have included berserkers and a lash prince - wait - they would have given me a competitive ding for running lash... grrrrr.... I hate soft scores. Oh well, I won.
This build is just incredible. I never used nurgles rot - not once, so I am going to rethink my sorcerer's psychic ability or use a nurgle lord with plaguebringer instead. I think the lord is a better choice... I never saw the IG armies, but I tabled a tau gunline and a lysander/sterngaurd build that was reported to have won every tournament the guy used it in since 5th. T5 and T6 just killed him. He killed 1 oblit, 4 plague marines, 1 biker, and 2 rhinos.
I am really liking this build. Even without the funny no dupes rule, I think I will run this build as is (switching in the lord for the sorcerer) for the time being.

Well, that sound like a really hard army to me! why didn't you use nurgles rot? couldn't a sorcerer with wind of chaos do the trick?

Great list, great result If you do swap out the Sorcerer try a Lord on bike with a powerfist, T4(6) and multiple Str 8 attacks? Sounds like a winner to me.
