Hello fellow slimeballs,

Ok, I have played Super Shooty Tin Men which included some Icon of Girly Pink Twink Boy units for years, but am completely new to Nurgle. Since the new codex came out, I have played with close combat focus (I5 Termy Champs with LC in Landraiders and such nonsense...). Now I want to go all Nurgle, and not min-max shooty/cc units with different Icons.

HQ
For competitive games, I will use 2 x DP with MoN, Wings, Warptime. For friendly games, I will drop one DP.

ELITE
Forgeworld Dreadnought with 2 x ccw (or something else - hell, I bought almost all weapon arm options... Never do any shopping on the web when you come home drunk on a Saturday night!)

CORE
1500 points : 3 x 7 PG in Rhinos (1 with Plasma and 2 with Melta - I tend to meet a lot of mech)
2000 points : 3 x 7 PG in Rhinos + 1 x 7 on foot (with Plasma, guarding home objective) + 7 Summoned Daemons (for deep strike objective hunting)

HEAVY SUPPORT
Up to 4 Oblits
Something else?

What else should I include? I was thinking of a Vindi, as I also play IG and love those Demolisher blasts. Would a LR fit in if I don't want any dedicated CC units like Termies? Please share your infinite wisdom and let me know what YOU think works best in a 100% DG army!

Let me start by telling you that calling the hardened veterans on this forum "slimeballs" can be very insulting. ;)

I like your list overall. I play a very similar list and see my sig for my record.
I dropped Vindies because they were fire magnets. And I don't think they fit the fluff.
Twin CCW Dread is a "meh". I have one but it usually gets immobilized in the middle of the field and that's the most annoying thing ever. So go with plasma-cannon/CCW Dread or no Dread at all.

Land Raider without termies is a waste. 250 pts for a T-L HB and 2 LC's? LR is a transport vehicle.

Mabrothrax the lover-not-a-fighter has written some pretty decent tactics here: deathguard-tacitica-t216.html
Go read it and see if he can change your mind about something.

I'm too tired to think of anything wiser to say.

Well as Pake has suggested go to the Pit of Puss and read Mabs tactica, it is the death guard bible :)

as for your lists i like them. Personally i have 4 PM squads of 7 in my 1500pt list and that is for one very simple reason...they are the best, most effective unit you can buy in a DG list. They out shoot out last and often out CC pretty much everything else!

The DP IS the only first class HQ unit (don't get me started on the Chaos Lord) but the sorcerer is pretty neat too, in your friendly games take one instead of your second DP and put him in an assault orientated PM squad, give him wind :). He also works well on a bike, leading some chosen from a raider etc etc.
As for the land raider the mighty Mabs tells us it is superb but ONLY when used as an assault transport and not as a fire base. So stick termies, chosen, PM's in it, but make sure they are equiped with assault weapons and two raiders is better than one :)

Termies are great but keep them as they come, or with flamers and one chainfist upgrade never hurts (niether does LC armed champs :P )

As for vindicators, i have one in my list, it either gets killed first round, or second or third. one isnt enough.

Also, an Asp Champ in your plasma armed PM squads is a waste of points....

Good luck and i look forward to seeing a more detailed list AFTER you read Mabs masterpiece

Looking good!

But I would go for 4 squads of Plague Marines in a 2000 point army. The squads with plasma really dont need a champ with a weapon. But the ones whit meltas should have a powerfist. I also think that a combiflamer in these squads could be useful.

:)

So now I bring in my snot too...

First, the List looks pretty good and solid.

The HQ looks great, DPs rock! I never played a sorcerer yet, but I think this will be great fun too ;) (listen to Phill)

Troops:
As long you don't mix your special weapons they are fine... there is nothing like 2 rapid firing plasma guns :)
Rhinos with Havoc-launchers are awesome against horde armies... so maybe consider one or two.

Elite:
For the Dread I second Pake, mine always get immobilized midfield or on my half in turn one. So choose a longranged weapon aswell so it gets at least the chance to kill something... I tend to use a lazcannon.

Heavy:
I would prefer the LR for a vindie. Weapon destroyed results don't hurt so much aswell an immobilzed result. Another point is the assault ramp, use it! I often just pack a troop PMs in it crush the enemy line with my chainfist wielding lord attached  After I dispatched the cargo I draw the Raider off the Enemy so it's safe from getting assaulted in CC and you have a pretty good and solid fire base in your back.

For your Heavy slot you could consider some havocs with rocket launchers. I used them succesfully against 'Nids. And they also can hunt down larger targets and or Tanks and such.

i am sorry to hear that CC armed dreads tend to die....do you guys hide them badly or something? can you not use tanks to give them cover moving forward, or deploy them better?

Is my chappy dread doomed? :(

Sorry about that, Pake! No offence was intended - I presumed that "slimeball" would be concidered a compliment on a Nurgle site! ;)

Thanks for all the advice - I will read the recommended tactica & together with the advice you have provided rethink my list. I will post it when it's done - it won't be today, as I just have come home from a 5 hour drive (Gothenburg - Stockholm) after having been totally demolished in a WHFB club tournament - I haven't played WHFB for a couple of years, and it showed... Now, I must quickly return to the comforting realm of WH40K!
